To the editor:
I left the meeting concerning the crosstown connector feeling sad that it had "come to this." It was a very passionate expression of feelings from both sides of the issue.
I believe the majority of the people would agree on two points. 1. That we should take care of the drainage problems out by the "mall." 2. That we can't allow phase one on "the connector" to stall; too much to lose. Now that Fort Dodge is on the move, we need to keep the ball rolling. It's been said that "you can't please all of the people all of the time." This situation requires some compromise on "both sides." I have and always considered Fort Dodge my family, and it causes me unrest when family members are angry at each other because "a house divided cannot stand" at least, not for very long. We need to get this matter settled and behind us.
