To the editor:
We would like to thank Fort Dodge Police Lieutenants Matt Wilson and Dennis Mernka, and Officers Keaton Lunn, Matt Webb and John Garretson for escorting our young cyclists to school and back during Bike to Work Week, May 14-18.
The children understand they have a legal right to ride on our city streets. Thank you for helping to instruct the responsibilities that go along with that right, such as following traffic rules, signaling, and riding on the right side of the road
We appreciate our police force who care about our young citizens. Thank you Matt Wilson for arranging this protection.
Thank you to the friendly motorists who waited so patiently and smiled and waved at the children. We felt such a sense of community. Fort Dodge is a great place to live and grow.
