FD man charged with stalking

A Fort Dodge man is being held on bond after being arrested for allegedly stalking a woman.

Ruben M. Parrilla, 46, of Fort Dodge, is facing charges of stalking, first-degree harassment and child endangerment.

It's alleged Parrilla showed up to where the woman worked and threatened to kill her and a man she was with.

The criminal complaint against Parrilla said he has a domestic assault conviction against the same woman, and is awaiting a court date on an allegation he violated the no-contact order between them.

The criminal complaint said the woman fears for her life.

He's also charged with harassing the man that was with the stalking victim.

According to the complaint, Parrilla told the man he "would show him what real Puerto Ricans do."

He's also accused of shouting racial and ethnic slurs at the man, who also requested a no-contact order.

During the argument between Parrilla and the victims, there was allegedly a child standing in the middle of the three. The complaint said Parrilla tried to start a fight while the child was there.

Parrilla made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court on Wednesday, where he was ordered held on $9,000 bond by Magistrate Bruce Cornell.

During his appearance, Parrilla asked Cornell if he could be released from jail, but Cornell said he wouldn't change the bond amount.

Parrilla's preliminary hearing is set for June 8.
