EARLY - Mona Wehde, formerly of Early, is scheduled to appear on NBC's "Today" show this morning.
Wehde is the mother of Dustin Wehde, who was murdered in 2001. Her appearance on "Today" will precede the scheduled broadcast of a Dateline special tonight on her son's death.
In November 2011, Tracey Richter was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Dustin Wehde, who was 18. Richter was sentenced to life in prison and is appealing that sentence.
The trial was held in Webster County on a change of venue.
Prosecutors argued that Richter, who claimed she shot Wehde in self-defense, had actually killed him in an elaborate plot to gain custody of her children following a dispute with one of her ex-husbands.
Another TV episode about the murder and trial is scheduled to appear on Oxygen on June 10. One of the Discovery channels is also producing an episode that is still in production.
