IOWA CITY - Fort Dodge's senior doubles duo of Anna Bowser and Kelsey Chingren settled for a 1-2 mark at the Class 2A girls state tennis tournmanent Thursday at Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
In their opening match, Bowser and Chingren fell to Bettendorf's top-ranked tandem of Dana Waterman and Ali Grampp by scores of 6-1 and 6-0.
"The first team we played was as good or even better than we expected," FDSH head coach Karine Feddersen said. (Bettendorf) then came back and played a great match against Ames."
After rebounding with a 6-4, 4-6 1(7) victory over Lisa Pusin and Chloe Stewart of West Des Moines Valley in the consolation first round, the Dodger pair suffered a 6-2, 6-3 consolation quarterfinal setback to Clinton's Griffin Rasche and Maggie Buikeman.
"Rasche and Buikeman were a good team, too," said Feddersen. "Anna and Kelsey took a little while to get going, but I couldn't have asked for more.
"They had a good showing, and I was proud of how they played (yesterday)."
Bowser and Chingren closed out their season with an 11-7 overall doubles record.
Bowser also previously qualified for state singles in 2010.
