Two injured in rollover crash
WILLIAMS - Two people escaped with minor injuries thanks to their seatbelts when the vehicle they were in rolled over on U.S. Highway 20 in Hamilton County Sunday, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Troopers identified them as Leonard N. Chochrek, 40, and Karen Fisher, 52. They are both from Waterloo. Both of them were taken to Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. A report on their condition wasn't available Monday evening.
According to the State Patrol, Chochrek was driving west in a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled over several times and ended up in a ditch on the north side of the highway.
The crash happened at 3:43 p.m.
The Williams Fire Department and Rescue Squad assisted troopers at the scene.
Barn fire reported near Manson
MANSON - A barn burned down at 12:45 p.m. Sunday at 1672 Van Buren Ave., east of Manson and approximately two and a quarter miles north of Iowa Highway 7. There were no injuries, but the barn was reportedly a total loss.
The Manson Fire Department responded to the call.
Firefighter Dave Anderson said, "From what I understand, they were burning trash, and the barn roof caught on fire. The barn became fully engulfed and burned to the ground.
"We originally paged Knierim and Pomeroy, but we called them off when we got there because the barn was pretty well gone."
