To the editor:
The wrestlers of the Fort Dodge community have an awesome opportunity to attend the University of Oklahoma wrestling camp. The local high school wrestlers will be united as one team at the camp. The staff at the camp includes the head coach for the University of Oklahoma, Mark Cody, in addition to All-American Champions, Big 12 Champions and a U.S. Open Champion.
The wrestlers and coaches would be extremely grateful for financial support to attend this outstanding event. The cost of the camp, housing, and transportation is estimated to be approximately $500 per wrestler. Although the current list of wrestlers signed up to attend are expected to pay for this camp, we would like to solicit funds to help defray the costs and to enable other interested wrestlers who would love the opportunity to attend but who are financially unable to attend. This is such an amazing opportunity for our "local boys."
The wrestlers will be selling raffle tickets for wonderful prizes which have been donated by Community Pizza and Sneakers. The tickets are $5 each or three for $10. The drawing for the winner of each prize will be announced at Community Pizza on July 10th at 6 p.m. The prizes are as follows:
First place - Free flat screen TV,
Second place - One Free Pizza per month for a year from Community Pizza and
Third place - Dinner for two, once a month for a year from Sneakers (food only)
The wrestlers will be selling these tickets or they may be purchased at the following businesses: Community Pizza, Sneakers and Overhead Door Co.
Our local Culver's will be donating a portion of their proceeds from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 21. We would like to encourage everyone to grab their family and friends and eat at Culver's on June 21 to have some great food.
Donations of support may also be made out to Wolfpack Wrestling and mailed to either one of the following coaches: Tanner Utley, 732 Miller Drive, Fort Dodge, IA 50501 or Bobby Thompson,1534 11th Ave. N., Fort Dodge, IA 50501.
