NEWS: Marsha Peterson, formerly of Fort Dodge and Webster City, received the Women's Opportunity award from Soroptimist International of the Americas.

SPORTS: Five-man teams from as far as Chicago and St. Louis participated in the Pleasant Valley Hoopla Basketball Tournament.

NEWS: Jan Merz, Fort Dodge City Parent-Teacher Association president, received the Volunteer of the Year Award for her work in education from Gov. Terry Branstad.

SPORTS: The St. Edmond girls overcame a 7-0 deficit to defeat Jefferson 10-8 in Midwest Conference softball action.

NEWS: Lena Tilton was elected senior regent of the Women of the Moose.
