BADGER - Darold Romaine Sharar, 70, of Badger, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge surrounded by his family. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Badger Lutheran Church in Badger. Burial will be 3:00 PM Saturday at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville, Iowa with military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.
Darold is survived by his children, Curt Bahr of Graettinger, IA, Darcy Howard of Sheboygen, WI, Darold (Dorothy) Sharar Jr. of Rochester, MN, Koleen Saifa-Bonsu of Minneapolis, MN, Teresa Petersen of Red Oak, IA, Steve (Sheryl) Watkins of Estherville, IA, Cheri Mahan of Council Bluffs, IA, Jackie (Ron) Riepma of Boyden, IA,; two sisters, Jean (Junior) Shultz and Dawn Shryock; grandchildren, Tyson (Jami) Clayton, Ashley (Jeremy) White, Kendall Watkins, Kyleigh Watkins, Alisha Riepma, Justin Riepma, Rachel (David) Krashin, Tim Mahan, Dylan Fischer, Sara (Harold) Clark-Lancour, and DJ (Valerie) Clark; Nicholas Anderson; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wife, Marilyn (Fisher) Sharar; his parents, Cleora Thompson-Pederson and Leo Sharar; granddaughter, Shantal Clayton; son, Johnny Bahr; and a brother-in-law, Bob Shryock.
Darold Romaine Sharar, the son of Leo and Cleora (Thompson-Pederson) Sharar, was born October 21, 1941 in Estherville, Iowa and he attended the Estherville School. Darold entered the United States Army on July 28, 1959 and received his honorable discharge in 1962 with the rank of Specialist. During his lifetime Darold worked at Stollers in Spirit Lake, Land-O'-Lakes, construction, was an owner/operator truck driver, and worked as a salesman at the West Oaks Time Share & Retirement. In 1975, Darold married Marilyn Kay Sharar. Marilyn passed away on May 7th of this year.

Darold enjoyed traveling the United States, especially Branson, The Ozarks, and the Black Hills. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, and watching NASCAR Racing. Also going to watch his nephew Kelly Shryock race for USMTS and become a 9 time champion. Darold had the gift of gab and a great sense of humor. He was an avid blood donor and many times donating double reds along with donating his plasma. Darold especially enjoyed his kids and grandkids, family and friends. He loved his animals, Walter, Dolly, and Chelsie the cat, his 25 year old bird Ted, and his dogs Velvet, Lady, Babe, and Frieda.
