On June 2, Dodger Cyclists sponsored a Memorial Bicycle Ride for two of our longtime members, Mike Flaherty and Willard Whitcome. The response far exceeded our expectations.
Thanks to Mike and Willard's families and friends, especially Diane Flaherty and Kevin Flaherty, Margaret Whitcome and Richard Whitcome. Thank you to Fire Chief David Luers and the Fort Dodge Fire Department for providing a meaningful and central location for the start. Bill Shea's well-written article in The Messenger was very much appreciated. Many thanks to the communities of Otho, Lehigh and Fort Dodge for welcoming bicyclists and supporting this event. We look forward to honoring Mike and Willard by using your donations of over $1,000 to encourage and enhance the expanding trail system in Fort Dodge and Webster County.
