URBANDALE - The Fort Dodge softball team came away with a split at the Urbandale Invitational on Friday.
After posting a 3-1 victory over ADM in their opener, the Dodgers (15-15 overall) dropped a 3-1 decision to West Des Moines Dowling.
Lexi Astor, Lani Van Zyl and Jamie Haden all finished with two hits in game one for FDSH, while Maddie Egli added a two-run double.
Going the distance in the win was Mallory Kilian (10-6), who allowed just five hits with four strikeouts.
"I thought we played well overall, especially defensively," said Dodger head coach Andi Adams. "ADM is a team that plays in a tough (Raccoon River) conference and sees good pitching all the time."
In the second contest, Kilian went deep in the second inning for the lone Fort Dodge run. Astor also threw out a runner at the plate with a perfect strike from center field.
