The Fort Dodge Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission will have an unusual early morning meeting Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 7 a.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.
Lori Branderhorst, the director of the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, said the session was set for 7 a.m. because she has to leave town by 9 a.m.
Commission members are scheduled to act on two things Wednesday. First, they will consider placing new horseshoe pits where the tennis court is now at Hydro-Electric Park on First Street Northwest.
They will also consider naming the ball diamond at Hydro-Electric Park after Pete Walter Wood, a Fort Dodge man who was a standout fast pitch softball player.
