Julia C. Knight, 86, passed away at Paula Baber Hospice Home on June 26, 2012.
Julia was born and grew up in Hawkeye, Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa where she enjoyed being a member of the Scottish Highlanders, and graduated in 1947 with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She then taught High School History in Decorah, Iowa for five years. She went back to the University of Iowa and graduated in 1953 with a Master's degree in History Education. She taught 11th grade History from 1953 to 1957 at Fort Dodge Senior High. She married Dr. Robert Knight in 1954 and resided in Fort Dodge their entire lives.
She is survived by son Bill Knight and wife Jill, son Dr. Jim Knight and wife Jeanne, all of Fort Dodge, daughter Elizabeth Knight of Iowa City, sister Gretchen Brayton of Sumner, Iowa, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by her husband Robert, her parents Henry and Marie Hauth, and brother Henry Hauth Jr.
Julia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed many travels throughout her entire life. She was a long time member of PEO, Chapter MT, a member of The Birthday Club, and an avid bridge player where she belonged to several bridge clubs over the years.
There will be a private family service at St. Olaf Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a public gathering of family and friends in the church Fellowship Hall from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
