Leona M. (Sarge) Ayala, 95, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Marian Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 6, 2012 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Church, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Leona is survived by her children, Sandra (Jerry) Cabelka of Glendale, AZ; Diann (Roger) Grove of Fort Dodge and Larry (Paula) Ayala of Otho; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emma Carda; husband, John; sisters, Hattie Carda and Emma Snow and brothers, Joseph and Leo Carda.
Leona Carda was born in Chelsea, South Dakota in March 18, 1917. She graduated from Northville High School in 1935. She then worked as a waitress in Aberdeen, SD before moving to Fort Dodge in 1941. She then married Leslie Frank in 1944 and the couple later divorced. Leona then was united in marriage to John Ayala in 1957. She worked at the Maywood Cafe, Country Club, and at the time of her retirement she had worked for Mayer Portraits for over 30 years.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
