LAKE CITY - Ardeth McGrail, 81, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lake City Union Church in Lake City with Rev. Betty Weidert officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City. A private burial will be held.
Ardeth is survived by her husband, Charles Eugene McGrail of Lake City, daughters, Kim (Duane) Handlos and Pat (Bill) Higgins both of Lake City, 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Shirley (Maurice) Lemelin of Orlando, FL, and Joy Merrill Hilderbrandt of Branson, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant daughter, Pamela Jean McGrail.
Ardeth Joan McGrail was born August 8, 1930 in Jolley, Iowa to Henry and Mabel (Ellis) Lottman. She graduated fromJolley Consolidated School in 1948, and on May 16, 1948 she was married to Charles Eugene McGrail at the Jolley Methodist Church. Ardeth was a member of the Lake City Union Church and several clubs in Lake City throughout the years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, music and spending time with her family and friends.
