Senior Night for the Fort Dodge baseball team was filled with highlights here Monday.

Facing Des Moines North in a CIML Conference crossover doubleheader at Ed McNeil Field, the fourth-ranked (Class 4A) Dodgers (31-6 overall) easily prevailed by scores of 11-0 and 14-0. Both games went just five innings.

With the sweep, FDSH established a new school record for most regular-season victories, eclipsing the previous mark of 29 established by the 1989 and 2010 squads.

Keegan Gormally of Fort Dodge dives back to first base on Monday afternoon against Des Moines North at McNeil Field. The fourth-rated Dodgers swept the Polar Bears.

"It was a fun night of baseball for our whole team," said Dodger head coach Matt Elsbecker, who has now helped lead his program to five of the top eight regular-season win totals in school history. "We'd like to believe we still have a lot of season left, but it was nice to play a lot of different guys (Monday).

"We gained some confidence, which is what you're always looking for no matter who you're playing."

In the opener, the CIML Iowa Conference champion Dodgers collected nine hits, seven stolen bases, and plated at least two runs in every inning they batted. Senior Isaac Lehman, junior Parker Van Zyl and sophomore Andrew Stover all delivered a pair of hits, while senior Will Gormally and junior Keegan Gormally each scored twice.

Devon Harms, a junior, knocked in four, and Vandermaten had three RBI.

Southpaw Will Gormally (5-3) posted the win, yielding only a two-out single by Zach Cox in the top of the first. Gormally walked two and whiffed five over four frames.
