EAGLE GROVE - Tricia Rosendahl, manager of the Wright County Fair, which being held at the fairgrounds in Eagle Grove, is eager to welcome people to the event.
"The fair is off to a great start," she said Friday, "and there is plenty of time to come out."
This year's fair theme is Discover Something New at the Wright County Fair.
New things include 20 additional camper spots, bringing the total to 66 available, and there's a new grandstand and free stage entertainment. There are also new food stands and vendors.
Events at the grandstand today will include tractor and truck pulls. On Sunday there will be a rodeo.
Smith Amusements, of Stratford, has set up a carnival with rides and games of chance, along with food.
Today, swine judging begins at 8 a.m. and barnyard olympics kick off at 5 p.m..
Beef judging will be Sunday at 9 a.m. and there will be a car show in the afternoon.
A free pancake breakfast will be held Monday morning at 7 a.m. before the annual livestock auction, which begins at 10 a.m.
There will be free watermelon after the livestock auction.
Events at the free stage include Nick's Kids Show, Nightly Tribute to Buddy Holly, and Malek's Fishermen Band today; Avery and Friends on Sunday; and the Clarion Methodist Church Praise Team on Sunday.
In addition to the activities, a display of cars, trucks and machinery - both antique and brand new - can be seen throughout the fair.
