OTHO - Mary Jane Stringer, 73, of Otho, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30, at First Covenant Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services

Mary Jane is survived by her husband Marvin (Pete) Stringer, Otho; sons, Brian (Kris) Stringer, Fort Dodge; Don (Tracy) Stringer, Sandpoint, Idaho; five grandchildren, Amy, Kyle, Brooke, Justyn and Jamie; her sisters, Janet (Bob) Winters, Seaside, Washington; Sandy Roeder, Milan, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.

Mary Jane Bilionis, the daughter of Stanley and Hazel (Vrchoticky) Bilionis, was born November 25, 1938 in Fort Dodge. She was reared and educated in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1957. On June 8, 1957, Mary Jane was united in marriage to Marvin (Pete) Stringer in Fort Dodge. They raised their two sons in Otho. Mary Jane worked at Fulton's Restaurant, Otho Grocery and grocery stores owned by Joe Heatherton and Raymond (Pete) Fuller. Mary Jane faithfully served as the Otho City Clerk for 38 years. She took great pride in helping people and working to make Otho a wonderful place for people to live. One of her greatest joys was living in Otho and serving the great community of Otho. After her retirement, Mary Jane spent her time in the Otho community. She enjoyed playing cards on Wednesdays and Thursdays along with her monthly birthday card club. She enjoyed driving through Dolliver Park and feeding animals at Beamer's Pond. She was a member of the Rebakkah Lodge, Pheasants Forever and served on the Otho Park View Homes board and the Otho Cemetery board. Mary Jane especially loved watching Otho Little League baseball games and people enjoying the park in Otho.

Memorials may be directed to the family for the purpose of establishing a memorial in Mary Jane's name for the Otho City Park and Otho Little League.
