FARNHAMVILLE - Geneva B. Madson, 94, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, Lake City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 11, at the First United Church, Farnhamville, with Pastor Kristina Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Reading Township Cemetery, Farnhamville. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
Geneva is survived by her sons, Richard (Marie) Madson, of Fairfax Station, VA, and Reggie (Loreen) Madson, of Apple Valley, MN; her daughter Roxanne Madson of Farnhamville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck in 2002; parents, Alva L. and Esther (Nyght) Stubbs; sisters, Hazel and Margie Stubbs, and Doris Anderson; and brother Alva L. Stubbs.
Geneva Beatrice Stubbs Madson was born May 1, 1918, at Mason City, Iowa. She moved to Farnhamville in 1924 at the age of 6 years. Geneva attended Farnhamville Public School through 8th grade, and graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1936. On November 9, 1938 she was united in marriage to John Charles Madson, at Fort Dodge. Geneva was employed at Security Savings Bank in Farnhamville for 30 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the First United Church, a 60-years member of Iowa B.E. of T.T.T., American Legion Auxilary Unit #510 of Farnhamville, and the Farnhamville Senior Citizens Club.
