Eugene F. Elling, 73, of Fort Dodge, died August 27, 2012 at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. The visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Eugene is survived by his wife Bonnie; his children, Eugene Jr., William, Linda, SueAnn and Judy; his step-children, Melvin Young, Scott Young, Tracy Young, Gary (Jenny) Young, Sandra Cole and Connie Thielen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother. He was preceded in death by a grandson Jacob, his parents and step-son Jerry Young.
EUGENE F. ELLING
Eugene Frederick Elling, the son of Melvin and Blanche (Newcombe) Elling, was born July 6, 1939 in Brownton, Minnesota. He graduated from Hector Schools in 1957. Eugene was united in marriage to Bonnie Rank in 1982 in Stillwater, Minnesota. They moved to Fort Dodge in 1990 and he was employed in the maintenance department at Van Diest from 1990 until he retired in 2011.
Eugene enjoyed tractors and building and fixing things. He treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, and going on weekend outings with his soul mate and love of his life.
