The St. Edmond volleyball squad swept through a non-conference triangular here Tuesday.
The Gaels (5-2 overall) defeated Storm Lake and Pocahontas Area in the SEHS gym. Scores were 25-22, 23-25, 15-6 against the Tornadoes and 25-17, 25-11 versus the Indians.
''This was huge for our confidence,'' Gael head coach John Johnson said. ''We came out and played very well. We've worked together as a team since day one, and that proved to be the case again here (Tuesday).
"Our players took care of the ball and showed a lot of energy and emotion.''
Hannah Lentsch recorded 15 kills combined in the victories for St. Edmond, while Alli Huss chipped in 13 kills. Skylar Berdaus contributed 11 kills overall, and went 10-for-11 serving with three aces against Storm Lake.
Paige Savery and Molly Doster both had perfect serving efforts in the win over the Tornadoes. Claire Crimmins did the same against PAC, while Savery racked up five ace serves.
''We were down big early in both of the first two (Storm Lake) games,'' Johnson said. ''The girls were resilient. It was a terrific match.''
The Gael junior varsity squad swept the Tornadoes and Indians, as did the freshman team.
St. Edmond returns to action next Thursday at Webster City.
