CALLENDER Gary D. Jensen, 70, passed away Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Loring Hospital in Sac City. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 1, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender, with Pastor Bob Hayden and Pastor Warren Baker officiating. Burial will be at the Callender Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites by Albert J. Hanson American Legion Post #592 of Callender, and the American Legion Peterson Post #431 of Gowrie.

Friends may call after 12:00 Noon Saturday at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender until service time. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is serving the Jensen family.

Gary is survived by his wife Joan; daughters, Jolene (Bill) Rude of Grimes, and Kimberly (Carl) Sandgren of Callender; 5 grandchildren, Jensen Sandgren, Kendall Sandgren, Jordan Rude, Jackson Rude, and Dylan Rude; sisters, Joyce Hill of Pomeroy, Jerry Hayden of Valley, NE, and Marlene Anderson of Webster City; brothers, Darrel Jensen of Webster City, and Terry Jensen of Jewell. He was preceded in death by his infant son Michael Dean Jensen; his parents, Howard and Thelma (Snell) Jensen; brothers, Howard, Duane, and Marvin Jensen; and sister Dorothy Becker.

Gary Dean Jensen was born June 26, 1942 at Webster City. He was raised and educated in Webster City. In 1960, he served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. On August 22, 1964 he was united in marriage to Joan M. Dilley at Blairsburg. The couple lived in Webster City and Gowrie, until establishing their home in Callender in 1966. Gary worked for Big 4 Coop for a number of years, and then he worked for the Webster County Home for 13 years. In 2004, Gary retired from working for Jensen Builders. He was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, and the American Legion.
