BOONE - The Farm Progress Show made its way back to central Iowa and one local company took the opportunity to show off what is coming new for it in the next few years.

Hagie Manufacturing, in Clarion, introduced to hundreds of Farm Progress Show attendees its new Tall Corn Package, a new injection system and a heavy duty 60-foot nitrogen tool bar for its STS line of sprayers.

Newt Lingenfelter, sales product manager for Hagie, said the new Tall Corn Package is available for the STS 10, 12, 14 and 16 models of sprayers and can be retrofitted onto existing units, as well.

"The new Tall Corn Package offers better shielding to not only protect the crop from damage while spraying, but the machine is also protected from paint damage," said Lingenfelter.

The Tall Corn Package will have a limited availability in 2013 with full production planned for 2014.

A new injection system that is available as an option on Hagie's STS line of sprayers was also a part of the company's product display over the three-day event near Boone.

Lingenfelter said the new injection system allows for the producer to have three products at 240-gallons total on board.

"It will give customers the availability to choose a different product to spray throughout the field and also adjust the rate mid-load," he said.

Another product released by Hagie was the new 60-foot nitrogen toolbar.

Being 20 feet wider than its former toolbar designs, Hagie's 60-footer will also be in limited availability in 2013 and in full production in 2014.

"This is a very flexible bar that goes over rough terrain very well," said Lingenfelter. "It is a rigid, heavy duty bar."

Lingenfelter said the 60-foot toolbar will mainly be used in commercial application purposes or for the large-acre farmer. It can sidedress nitrogen at 12 miles per hour and features a 72-inch clearance under the frame so nitrogen can be applied up to the plant's tassel stage.

The new toolbar, he said, will be available for the company's STS 12, 14 and 16 models of sprayers.

To help power those large sprayers and attachments, Hagie also released a new Cummins Tier 4 I engine.

This engine, Lingenfelter said, will be available for the 2013, 10, 12 and 14 models of the STS sprayers and offers 25 more horsepower bringing the rating up to 300 hp.

Not only does the engine provide more power, it also provides efficiency as well.

"There is 10 percent more fuel efficiency with this engine and it also features better heat rejection to keep the engine and components cooler," he said.

Hagie finds the Farm Progress Show not only an opportune time to introduce what is new and upcoming in their company, it also thinks it gives their employees a chance to see what is new in the world of agriculture.
