FD man sentenced on meth conviction

SIOUX CITY - A Fort Dodge man was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to federal drug charges in June.

August Defoe, 34, of Fort Dodge, was sentenced on Thursday.

Defoe admitted at his plea hearing that he was involved in a conspiracy to manufacture at least 50 grams of methamphetamine from December 2009 to July 2011. He said that he had sold meth to people in the Fort Dodge area, and had gotten at least 182.16 grams of pseudoephedrine.

Defoe will begin serving his sentence once he is transferred to a federal prison.
