TUSCON, Ariz. - Donna Swanson-Farrand, 75, passed away in Tucson on Sept 17, 2012.
Funeral services will be held on Monday September 24th at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Donna is survived by loving and devoted husband, Walter Farrand of Tucson, AZ; her children, Bud (Deb) Swanson of Vincent; Tim Swanson of Fort Dodge, IA; Cindy (Chuck) Wimberly of Tucson; and K.C. Swanson of Moorland and her step children, Bob (Heidi) Farrand of Conway, SC; Kathi (Joe) Anderson of Richmond, VA; Bill Farrand of Des Moines; Brant (Tina) Farrand of Otho; and Nicole Farrand of Tucson; 18 grandchildren, including her beloved Calin Farrand; 5 great grandchildren; her brother Jackie (Marie) Farmer of Fort Dodge, and 3 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Vernie and Helen (Dallman) Farmer, her best friend since childhood, Shirley Schenkler of Des Moines.
Donna Rae Farmer was born on December 8, 1936 in rural Moorland, Iowa at home and grew up in the Moorland area. She worked at various jobs in Fort Dodge with the latter at Starlight and retired from Canyon Ranch in Tucson, AZ. Donna was a kind and compassionate woman whose selfless acts benefited all who crossed her path. She had a passion for sewing, RVING, and taking care of her family. To quote a friend, "don't cry because it is over, smile because she happened"
Donna also spent her later years volunteering at her grandson's middle school, where she was known as, "Grandma Donna".
