To the editor:
A sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to the Kayla Jones Memorial Scholarship Ride held on Aug. 25 at Lefti's Bar & Grill. Through the generosity of so many, we raised $36,000.
We are grateful to everyone who contributed in some way - those who volunteered their time to work at the event, those who helped set up and tear down, those who prepared the meal, those who helped get donations, those who donated, Theresa & Merrill Leffler for all the work they do, Jeff Kampen, our auctioneer and everyone who showed up to support the event. A lot of time and hard work goes into preparing and making sure everything is perfect for the day. This event is successful because of each and everyone who contributed in one way or another.
The weather wasn't in our favor this year with overcast and rain, however, the rain didn't affect the outcome. We had a lot of brave people who rode their bikes in the rain along with a lot of people who drove their vehicles, as well as those who joined us at Lefti's for a freewill donation dinner, silent auction, live auction, DJ and an evening full of fun.
We are overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. Over the past three years we have been able to give $50,500 in college scholarships to students at Fort Dodge Senior High and St. Edmond. What an incredible feeling. We are able to honor Kayla's memory and help local students at the same time. Indeed, Kayla's memory lives on.
There are no words to describe how thankful and appreciative we are.
We are so blessed.
For the family of
Kayla Christine Jones
