Maurita Aubrey has joined Community Christian School as its licensed administrator.

As licensed administrator, Aubrey is chief administrative officer of the school, responsible for completing the functions the dean of students is not licensed to perform. Aubrey will also be responsible for developing and administering assessments and ensuring the school meets state requirements.

"She's going to be helping with teacher evaluations, with assessments that we do. She will be helping fill out papers required by the state," said Margaret Shields, CCS dean of students. "She's going to be my associate. Because I'm doing the main every day duties of school, she's going to be doing those other things that are part of my job."

Prior to joining CCS, Aubrey worked at Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency for 17 years, where she continues to work full time as a school improvement consultant.

Education is a passion for her.

"I love education, and I love working with kids," she said.

Aubrey has a bachelor's degree in psychology and an education specialist degree in school psychology from Minot State University. She has also completed the Iowa Principal Leadership Academy and holds endorsements for prekindergarten through 12 principal and prekindergarten through 12 special education supervisor.

Aubrey has also been an adjunct instruction at Morningside College in Sioux City.

As licensed administrator, a part-time position, Aubrey will work 2-3 days on site.

"I've only worked here two days so far, but I love it here," she said.

Shields said Aubrey is a welcome addition to Community Christian.

"I think she's wonderful," Shields said. "It's nice to have somebody with experience in some areas that I don't have as much experience in. We appreciate her expertise. She's going to be a great asset to our school."
