CORALVILLE - Joanne L. (Trost) Springer, age 83, died at Coralville, IA on Sept. 13, 2012, after a long battle with the Alzheimer's disease. She had been a resident at Windmill Manor for 4 years.
Ms. Springer was a native of Fort Dodge, IA. She moved to Washington, D.C. in 1956 where she was employed with World Wide Travel Service Corp. and was later office manager for the National Association of County Officials. She then later married Art Springer and moved to Minneapolis, MN and resided there for 20 years before moving to San Benito, TX. She later moved to Harlingen, TX. and then in 2006 she moved to Walden Place, a retirement home in Iowa City.
While a resident of Texas, she was involved with volunteer work mentoring grade school children. She was an avid bridge player and was President for 3 years for the Friendship Bridge Club, in which she was involved with for many years. She loved to travel and would also visit both sisters and families every year.
Joanne was predeceased by her Mother and Father, Joseph and Carol Trost, and her sister Marilyn (Trost) Rogers. She is survived by her sister Paula (Trost) Pruit, of Alamogordo, NM, former husband Art Springer and a stepson Ted Springer, a brother-in-law Jack Rogers, of Iowa City, IA, Nieces and nephews, Pamela Hu, husband Phil of San Diego, CA ; James Wallace, wife Cara of Mesa, AZ; Carolyn Wallace of La Luz; Sarah Dillon, husband Tim of Edina, MN; John Rogers, wife Brenda of Mound, MN; Scott Rogers, wife Beth of The Colony, TX; Curt Rogers, wife Rhonda of Denver CO; Liddy Hora, husband Gregg of Fort Dodge, IA.
Graveside services will be scheduled for a later date and will be held in Fort Dodge, IA. Joanne will be laid to rest at Northfield cemetery, next to her sister Marilyn Rogers.
