Wolverines post 98 points

WEST BEND - The West Bend-Mallard football team made their mark in the school's history books Friday night, posting a 98-6 victory over CAL.

The Wolverines (5-3 overall, 4-1 in 8-man, District 2) led 60-0 after the first quarter, subbing out the varsity unit the rest of the way.

Ashton Fehr and Travis Fehr each had two touchdowns to lead a balanced attack for West Bend-Mallard, which set a school-record for points scored in a game.

The Wolverines limited CAL (0-7, 0-5) to just 24 yards of total offense.

The 98 points is the third-most all-time in 8-man history. Dallas Melcher scored 116 points in 2005, and Walnut scored 105 in '04.

The Wolverines are back in action next Friday when they travel to Laurens-Marathon.

To finish the season West Bend-Mallard will host top-ranked Newell-Fonda.

Ground attack lifts PV

LAKE MILLS - The Prairie Valley football team postd a 35-0 shutout over Lake Mills on Friday night.

Austin Promes and Mason Gordon had strong ground attacks again for the Warriors (5-2 overall, 4-1 in district).

Promes rushed for 171 yards on 12 carries.

Mason Gordon ran for 132 yards on 29 carries and two scores. He reached paydirt from four and two yards out.

Cole Black caught a 63-yard scoring strike from Ryan True. True also had a three-yard touchdown.

Black caught two balls for 92 yards.

Prairie Valley had 439 yards of total offense.

Wildcats get past Le Mars

L EMARS - The Humboldt football team scored a 21-12 victory over Le Mars Friday night in a non-district affair.

Brady Ross led the Wildcats (4-3 overall) with 195 yards on 41 carries, including two touchdowns. Tyler Rutz added 79 yards on the ground.

Ben Jacobson was 7 of 14 passing for 131 yards and a 58-yard touchdown to Landon Nokleby.

The loss puts Le Mars at 5-2 on the year.

Titans stopped on fourth down

GARNER - The South Central Calhoun football team was stopped in the final minute Friday night, falling to Garner-Hayfield, 21-20.

Nathan Christensen passed for 207 yards, completing 11 of 20 and two touchdowns. He also ran for 123 yards on 14 carries, and made eight tackles on defense.

Cody Schoop added nine tackles for the Titans (3-4 overall, 1-3 in district).

Garrigan falls to Newman, 31-12

ALGONA - The Bishop Garrigan football team was downed by Mason City Newman on Friday, 31-12.

Reece Wadle had 86 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Jonathan Berte added 62 yards on the ground for the Golden Bears (3-4 overall, 2-3 in Class A, District 2).

Wadle had a 46-yard touchdown run and a 25-yard TD pass to Nathan Krieps.

Joe Burgmeier led Newman (5-2, 5-0) with 251 yards and three touchdowns.

Spirit Lake topples Clarion-Goldfield

SPIRIT LAKE - The fifth-ranked (Class 2A) Spirit Lake football team picked up a 46-7 victory over Clarion-Goldfield Friday night.

Jake Haberman led the Cowboys (4-3 overall, 2-3 in 2A, District 2)) with 75 on 19 carries and a touchdown.

Nathan Holmes had two sacks and five tackles for the C-G defense.

SW-G stuffed by No. 4 West Hancock

BRITT - The fourth-ranked (Class A) West Hancock football team cruised past Southeast Webster-Grand here Friday night.

The Eagles (6-1 overall, 5-0 in A, District 2) claimed a 42-6 victory.

Tyson Comstock led Southeast Webster-Grand (2-5, 0-5) with 108 yards and a touchdown.

Lynx come up short

WAVERLY - The Waverly-Shell Rock football team knocked off Webster City 24-8 on Friday night.

The Lynx (4-3 overall, 3-2 in district) lone touchdown came on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Trey Tesdahl to Ben Mossman. Connor Larson ran in the two-point conversion.

Eagles slammed by A-P

PARKERSBURG - The sixth-ranked (Class 1A) Aplington-Parkersburg football team earned a 62-16 victory over Eagle Grove Friday night.

Brandon Johnson scored twice, rushing for 69 yards. Brennon Cameron added 63 yards.

Indians fall at home to Ridge View

POCAHONTAS - The Pocahontas Area football team was defeated by Ridge View Friday night, 18-12.

Draven Barth led the Indians (4-3 overall, 1-3 in district) with 82 yards rushing and a touchdown, along with an 88-yard kickoff return for a score.
