Vivian M. Bonnstetter, 80, of Fort Dodge passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at The Gardens Assisted Living at Friendship Haven. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior the service at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Vivian was born on a farm near Bode, IA to Carl V. and Edith M. Johnson on May 12, 1932. She attended country school near Bode, IA before graduating from Bode High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Gerald J. Bonnstetter in Fort Dodge on July 5, 1952 at Corpus Christi Church. Vivian had a kind and loving heart. She loved nature, especially working in her flower gardens, bird and deer watching, searching for interesting rocks, or with her husband camping and fishing on the lakes around Hayward Wisconsin. She also loved bass fishing on numerous lakes in Iowa. Vivian was a member of the Garden, Flower and River Valley Rockhounds clubs in Fort Dodge.
Vivan worked as a salesperson for SS Kresge Co. and Sears. She also worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper for H & H Rusco, Burch Manufacturing, R.D. Johnson and Black and Jorgenson prior to retiring from Iowa Central Industries in 1995.
Vivian is survived by her sons Terrence of Fort Dodge and Gerald S. (Brenda) of Ventura, IA; granddaughters Kayla and Leah of Ventura, IA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald J. of 59 years; her parents Carl V. and Edith M; her sister Violet and brothers Edward and Floyd.
The family would like to thank everyone who has expressed their concerns for Vivian over the past 2 years, the staff of The Gardens 100 and Trinity Hospice who helped her so much.
