Deon Clayton charged in stabbing

A Fort Dodge man is facing felony charges after he allegedly stabbed a woman in his home.

Deon D. Clayton, 20, is facing multiple charges in an alleged incident Monday night.

Clayton allegedly stabbed a woman four or five times with a kitchen knife. According to the criminal complaint filed with the Webster County attorney's office, the woman was trying to leave Clayton's house when the stabbing happened.

He's also accused of forcing her to stay inside the house and not letting her leave until police arrived.

The victim was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center to be treated for her injuries. It's alleged she had stab wounds on her neck, abdomen, left arm and finger.

The victim had a protective order against Clayton.

He appeared in Webster County Magistrate Court Tuesday morning on charges of willful injury, false imprisonment, first-degree harassment and contempt of court.

Magistrate William Thatcher ordered Clayton held on $8,300 bond. Thatcher sent the contempt of court case to District Court and scheduled a preliminary hearing on the other charges for Oct. 19.

FD men sentenced on meth charges

SIOUX CITY - Two men who pleaded guilty to their involvement in different meth conspiracies were sentenced last week to federal prison.

Tracy Young, 47, was sentenced to 120 months in prison, and Rodney Mrozek Jr., 31, received 93 months in prison.

Both men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine earlier this year.

Young, on Feb. 21, admitted from Dec. 2009 to July 2011, he was involved in a conspiracy to manufacture at least 300 grams of meth. According to a press release from the United States attorney's office, Northern District of Iowa, suspects involved in the conspiracy received more than 1,500 grams of pseudoephedrine, which was provided to Young.

Mrozek, on May 29, pleaded guilty to the same charge in a separate investigation. He admitted he was involved in a conspiracy to manufacture and distribute at least 50 grams of meth between Dec. 2009 and July 2011.

Both men remain in custody until they can be transported to a federal prison.
