The annual Caregiver's Conference, featuring dementia expert Teepa Snow, will be held Tuesday at Decker Auditorium on the Iowa Central Community College campus.
This launches the LESS is MORE - Life Enrichment Senior Series is Making Our Retirement Exceptional - educational series with the focus being on emotional wellness.
Emotional wellness is only one of the six dimensions of health, the others being physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, and vocational. The series is intended to explore Snow, a dementia expert and advocate, trains and consults for agencies, facilities and families.each dimension in depth and to help seniors understand what healthy aging encompasses.
Snow, a dementia expert and advocate, trains and consults for agencies, facilities and families. She will demonstrate common issues and problems to help care providers learn new ways of thinking and managing themselves for better outcomes and results. Her goal is to make future visits valuable and positive, as well as learning the difference between letting go and giving up.
There is a fee for health care professionals for the conference, but admission is free for family caregivers and seniors. The series is open to adults wishing to learn more about healthy aging. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A snack and lunch will be provided. Parking will be designated in Lot L4 with a shuttle service to the Bioscience and Health Sciences building.
