A Fort Dodge gas station robbery over the weekend has police searching for the armed suspect who was able to get away.
On Sunday, around 3:04 a.m., the unidentified suspect walked into the Kum & Go at 115 N. 22nd St. and demanded money, according to Fort Dodge Police Chief Tim Carmody.
Carmody said the suspect was armed with a shotgun.
The suspect took an unknown amount of money during the robbery, then fled the scene on foot. Police arrived soon after, but weren't able to find the robbery suspect.
Carmody said the clerk, though nervous from what had just happened, had no injuries.
The unidentified robber was described as a black man between 5 feet 6 inches and five feet 8 inches tall, weighing between 140 to 160 pounds.
He was wearing blue jeans and a black sweatshirt. Carmody said the suspect was also wearing a dark-colored cloth mask that partially covered his face.
"We believe that there are those in the community that have additional information about this incident," Carmody said. "We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with them."
