To the editor:
On Sept. 28, vandals did more than $100,000 damage to the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone - turning over stones, smashing urns, and moving smaller grave markers.
Needless to say, this created a significant amount of emotional turmoil in our community.
Thanks to the generous spirit of the Kallin Johnson Monument Co. of Fort Dodge, coupled with the efforts of two other companies from nearby communities, nearly all of the damage was repaired within four days time, at no cost to our community. These companies volunteered their efforts to our community in a time of great stress.
Our entire community wishes to express its gratitude to the management and employees of the Kallin Johnson company for their concern and generosity to the Boone community.
Everett D. Johnson
