MARSHALLTOWN - The Eagle Grove girls cross country team advanced to the Class 1A state meet Thursday night behind another individual championship by Tiffany Christensen.
The Eagles placed third overall with 117 points. Denver and Dike-New Hartford earned the other two automatic spots.
Southeast Webster-Grand's Emma Luhmann finished fourth to also advance to the 1A race next Saturday in Fort Dodge.
Christensen clocked a time of 15:23, two seconds ahead of Kelsey Kirchoff of Denver. Luhmann finished in 16:12.
Running for the Eagles were Hailey Adams, Alaina Helmke, Sam Helmke, Kylee Almond and Hannah Hanson.
The Eagle Grove boys placed sixth overall.
