The Fort Dodge City Council is scheduled to vote on burying the power lines on part of First Avenue South when it meets Monday.

The council will also discuss the new road south of the middle school now under construction.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.

A resolution to be voted on Monday directs MidAmerican Energy to bury the power lines and add the cost of the project to its customers' bills. The average household will pay $4 a month for the project.

The $1.4 million job will start in the spring of 2013.

The wires to be placed underground are between Veterans Bridge and 29th Street.

In conjunction with the new middle school, the Fort Dodge Community School District constructed a new road south of that building.

The council on Monday is slated to accept that road as a public street.

Representatives of the school district are expected to ask the council to name the street Dodger Drive.
