To the editor:
Well another successful Cruise To The Woods car show is in the books for another year. There was an estimated 1.400 cars that attended this year. They converged from all corners of the state, Minnesota and Missouri to Stratford, Iowa, in 10 different routes. From there they convoyed to the Webster County Fairgrounds. There were an estimated 800 vehicles lined up from Stratford to Fort Dodge.
The board and membership of the W.C. Cruisers would like to thank Joe Sutter and The Messenger staff for the excellent coverage of this event. This was a major event and was given the attention it deserved. We would like to thank the sponsors that helped make this event possible, Kemna Auto, Fort Dodge Ford, Shimkat Motor Co., Champion Auto Dealers, Tony's Tire & Truck and Auto Center, Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, Iowa Street Rod Association, Grid Iron Sports Bar and Grill, First American Bank, Webster City Federal Savings Bank, Anderson Manor B&B and Iowa Theaters of Winterset Iowa. Without their help it would have been very difficult to host such an event of this size.
We would also like to acknowledge the participants in the pedal car competition. Six body shops from around the region were given unpainted and unassembled pedal cars and told to do what ever they wanted to do with them. and then we would pick them up before the cruise show. This year's participants were Bacon Body Shop, Troy Waller Body Shop, Todd's Body Shop, Metal Works, all of Fort Dodge. Also this year G-Force of Algona and this year's winner picked by the registered show participants was Midwest Muscle cars of Clarion. Also Ed Bermingham from Ankeny, who did one for our raffle. We would like to thank the participants and spectators who came to the show. We would also like to thank the members and volunteers who helped make this years show a success.
