URBANDALE -The Fort Dodge volleyball team ended its season with a loss to 10th-ranked Urbandale in Class 5A regional volleyball action on Thursday.

The Dodgers (8-27 overall) lost 25-12, 25-9 and 25-8.

"They (Urbandale) came from everywhere,'' said Fort Dodge head coach Toni Cochrane. "They have the whole package and are very deserving of their ranking.

"We played ahrd for the points we got, but they had four hitters that consistantly can put the ball away.''

Lexi Astor led the Dodgers serving, going 6-for-6. Molly Matthes was 6 of 7.

Astor had 13 digs, while Mariah Knutson and Matthes had eight and seven respectively.

Ashton Pederson and Knutson were the lone seniors for the Dodgers.

"Ashton did a great job. She played wherever we needed her,'' Cochrane said. "Mariah was a backrow specialist and was a team captain.

"This was a young group up and down the roster.''
