HALSTEAD, Kan. - Roszella Ruth Mishler Engel, 93, died on October 30, 2012 in Halstead, KS. She was born on June 2, 1919, in Palmer, Iowa and lived her first 81 years in that state, moving to Cheney in 2000 to be near family, after losing her vision in one eye due to glaucoma.
She married Arthur C. Engel on February 18, 1940. He died Feb. 14, 1980.
Roszella started writing the words and melody to gospel and patriotic songs 20 years ago. She has written over 60 gospel songs and hymns and a few patriotic songs as well. She gives God all the honor and glory for blessing her with this gift.

She is a former member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Humboldt, Iowa and was part of their Evangelistic Outreach Team for many years. She is a firm believer in prayer, missions and evangelizations, and was a member of Cheney Baptist Church.
Survivors include; daughters, Janie Weathers, Beaumont, TX; Larinda Seagren and husband Wayne, Marion, IA; twin sons; Verne Engel and wife Rachel, Raytown, MO; Verle Engel and wife Elda, Cheney, KS; 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Erna Ricklefs, Pocahontas, IA; special friends, Joyce Hefley, Andrea Wise and Nancy Recker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Engel, son, Lamont Engel, grandson, Kyle Engel, 2 sisters, 1 brother and a daughter-in-law.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2012 at Cheney Baptist Church, Cheney, KS with Reverend Keith Peters presiding. Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 4, 2012 in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Palmer, Iowa. Friends may call 12:00 p.m. to service time Friday, November 2, 2012 at Cheney Baptist Church, Cheney, KS.
