GOWRIE - Prairie Valley High School will perform the musical, "My Son, the Astronaut," at 7 p.m. Friday and as a dinner theater at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The musical is about George Kipple, whose archetypal Jewish mother likes to refer to him as a "professional failure." George has never succeeded in anything until he inadvertently becomes an astronaut to Mars, where he defeats the Red Nemesis (a man-eating monster who is decimating the Martians), gets the girl (his Earth sweetheart, Miriam), and becomes a financial success to boot.
Tickets for Friday are $6. On Saturday, the dinner theater tickets are $15. The menu will include lasagna, toast, a salad and a variety of homemade desserts. Tickets may be purchased by calling the high school office at 352-3142.
