GOWRIE - Ida Charlotte Thompson, age 87, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Gowrie passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ft. Dodge with Pastor Matthew Martens and Chaplin Gary Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Lost Grove Township Cemetery, Harcourt. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie.
Survivors include son Wayne Thompson of Ft. Dodge, daughter Sharon Terwilliger (Duane) of Cedar Falls, and grandson Thomas Thompson. Preceding her in death are here parents Luther and Adena (Hilstrom) Peterson, husband Milford Thompson, brother Charles Peterson, and daughter-in-law Paula Thompson.
Charlotte Peterson was born on February 10, 1925 at Harcourt. She graduated from Harcourt High School in 1942 and from Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines. Charlotte was employed as an industrial nurse for John Deere. She was united in marriage with Milford Thompson on January 27, 1952. They farmed in Alleman, Harcourt, and Gowrie areas all their lives. Charlotte was employed by Trinity Regional Medical Center, Ft. Dodge as a surgical and recovery room nurse. She resided at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home for ten years and attended all chapel services. Charlotte was an avid reader, gardener, and helped her husband on the family farm. Her faith and love for the Lord sustained her through life.
