The Worship Singers at First Covenant Church will present "The First Noel" at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 2 at the church, 201 Ave. H.
Joe Parks wrote this cantata based on the Christmas story of Luke 2 and a reading found in 1 Corinthians 1:27, "God hath chosen the foolish (simple) things of the world to confound the wise the weak things to confound the mighty." "The First Noel" depicts the Biblical account of Jesus coming to save our world not as a mighty King riding on a white horse, but as a helpless babe in a manger.
Various choir members provide the narration and soloists featured are Shanda Kinseth, Konrad Powell, Tim and Joanne Anderson and Paul and Denise Halverson. The cantata is accompanied by Kristen Utley playing the piano, Doug Utley providing percussion, and is directed by Armona Redenius.
