Humboldt edges MNW

The Humboldt boys narrowly escaped with a 44-43 victory over Manson Northwest Webster Tuesday night.

Michael Orness paced the Wildcats (1-0 overall) with 15 points, while Jaxon Heinz added 14.

Brody Eischeid tallied 11 points for the Cougars (1-1).

Jackson hits game winner for E-Hawks

EMMETSBURG - Jay Jackson hit a jumper with three seconds left to push Emmetsburg to a 57-56 victory over Pocahontas Area on Tuesday night.

Erik Drost led the E-Hawks (1-0 overall) with 18 points. Jackson checked in with 16 points. Michael Pugh added 11.

Aaron Youngberg led the Indians (0-1) with 20 points. Brandon Hersom and Austin Behrendsen had 14 points each.

LAKE CITY - The South Central Calhoun boys doubled up Audubon by a 72-36 count here Tuesday night.

Jace Neubaum powered the Titans (1-0 overall) with 19 points.

Nathan Christensen (16) and Andrew Van Hulzen (12) were the other top offensive performers for South Central Calhoun.

Andy Hoffman tallied a game-high 21 points for the Wheelers (0-2).

Warriors fall in opener

GOWRIE - The Prairie Valley boys had no answers for Belmond-Klemme in their season-opener Tuesday night, dropping an 83-48 decision.

Cole Black led the way for the Warriors (0-1 overall) with 20 points, while Austin Wood chipped in 12 points.

Court Christianson and Colin Lane each scored 17 points for the Broncos (1-0).
