EMMETSBURG - One trucker was killed and another injured after an accident involving two trucks early Monday morning.

The accident happened around 6:06 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Iowa Highway 4 and 390th St. in Palo Alto County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol's accident report, a semi driven by David Ruehle, of Graettinger, was going southbound on Iowa Highway 4. As it approached the intersection, a dump truck, driven by Steven Rosenboom, of Little Rock, pulled out in front of Ruehle's truck from a stop sign. Ruehle wasn't able to stop and hit Rosenboom's truck.

The accident report stated Rosenboom's truck "exploded into flames" after getting hit by Ruehle's. Rosenboom's truck ended up in the west ditch of Highway 4.

Ruehel's truck jackknifed and ended up in the southbound lane of Highway 4.

Rosenboom died in the accident.

Ruehle was taken to Palo Alto County Hospital by a friend. He received "non-incapacitating" injuries in the accident, according to the report.
