LEHIGH - Marion Dosland, 95, of Lehigh, IA, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Services will be held at a later date. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; their children, Roger (Kathy) Dosland of Dayton, OH, Derald (Karen) Dosland of Clinton, IA, and Nancy (Tom) Steehler of Iowa City, IA; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Judy; his five brothers, Charles, Robert, Albert, James, and Peter; his three sisters, Viola, Anna, and Mae.
Marion Carlson Dosland, the son of Thomas and Gertrude (Carlson) Dosland, was born March 27, 1917 in Fort Dodge and graduated from Berlin High School in Berlin, ND. After graduation Marion moved to Lehigh where he worked for Dow Crouse Construction and on October 19, 1940, he married Genevieve Crouse at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
Marion entered active military service on March 10, 1943 with the United States Army. He served overseas for 24 months in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations with the 805th Aviation Engineer Battalion. Marion participated in 2 major campaigns and on December 27, 1945 he was honorable discharged from the military.
Soon after his return from the military he started his own construction business. Marion operated Dosland Construction until his retirement in 1982. After retirement Marion was kept busy with his love of woodworking and building furniture.
He was a charter member of the Lehigh Lions.
