Fort Dodge Choral Society will present "Sing We Now of Christmas" at 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at First United Methodist Church. Listeners may come any time after 2 p.m. to enjoy Christmas treats and singing familiar carols led by Beverly Poduska and Cheryl Kuhlman.
Conductor Bruce Perry has chosen a program to celebrate the joy, peace and beauty of Christmas music. The concert combines traditional favorites, including "O Come, all Ye Faithful," "Angels We Have Heard on High," and "Still, Still, Still," with festive works by English organist Charles Stanford, Mannheim Steamroller's Jackson Berkey, and Mark Hayes. Audience members will have the opportunity to sing along with the choir in familiar Christmas carols.
Webster City pianist and organist Michelle Havlik-Jergens will join with singers. Other featured performers include soprano Elissa Savov, clarinetist Cheryl Kuhlman, and percussionist Shelley Ellerston.
Fort Dodge Choral Society is dedicated to the performance of great choral music. The group unites singers from a nine-county region to bring masterworks to life.
Admission to the event is available at the door or by season membership. Ticket prices are $10, $9 for senior citizens and all students free. For further information, visit fdchoralsociety.org or contact Perry at 979-5620.
