McSweeny’s School presents recitals

McSweeny's School of the Performing Arts will present its winter voice recital, "A Celtic Christmas," at 7 p.m. Saturday at the school, 1633 N. 29th St.

The concert will feature vocal soloists, vocal duets, the Fort Dodge Area Children's Chorus and the Fort Dodge Area Youth Chorale, all voice students of MaryAnn McSweeny-Buhr. The performance will include various genres of music including Christmas, Celtic, Italian Art Songs, spirituals, folk songs, musical theatre, Native American, and sacred songs in Latin sung by students ranging in age from 5 to 18.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission.

Providing piano accompaniments for the recital will be area pianist, Michelle Havlik-Jergens, Webster City. Assisting on the flute will be Michelle Curtis, Badger.

A recital featuring the instrumental students of Kristin Bodholdt will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at the school. The performance is free to the public and will include Christmas music played on piano, guitar, flute, saxophone and clarinet.
