GOWRIE - Margaret L. Telleen, age 89, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Gowrie Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie.
Survivors include daughter, Marcia Anderson (Bob) of Ankeny, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Linda Martens (John) of Ames, Iowa; grandchildren, Heather Telleen of Ankeny, Iowa, Heath Telleen (Samantha) of Underwood, Iowa, and Jennifer Belz (Klint) of Ankeny, Iowa.; great-grandchildren, Caden and Maya Telleen of Underwood, Iowa, and twins, Bridget and Bianca Belz of Ankeny, Iowa; sister, Marie Vaudt of Fort Dodge; sister-in-law, Louise Schmoker of Fort Dodge; nephew, Philip Vaudt (Cheryl) of Randall, Minnesota and niece, Ann McBride of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Preceding her in death is her parents, Otto and Anna (Scharf) Schmoker, husband, Martin Telleen, son, Mark Telleen, and brother, Ernest Schmoker.
Margaret L. Telleen was born on March 26, 1923 on a farm east of Fort Dodge, Iowa and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1941. She was employed as a Dental Assistant in Fort Dodge. In 1947, she was united in marriage to Martin Telleen of Gowrie, Iowa at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They made their home on a farm northeast of Gowrie. She continued to live on the farm after Martin's death for 17 years and then moved to Gowrie. Margaret was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild, was a teacher for Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, belonged to W.E.L.C.A., and also served as a Stephen Minister. Margaret was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a 4-H leader, honorary 4-H member, served on the County Extension Committee, a Care Advocate at the Gowrie Care Center, and served on the Gowrie Ambulance Board.

Margaret was a Cyclone fan and a member of the Order of the Knoll at Iowa State University.
