The Fort Dodge Police Department is investigating what it's calling an attempted murder.
Around 7:50 Wednesday morning Kyle Myers, 32, checked himself in to Trinity Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound, according to Police Chief Tim Carmody.
Hospital officials contacted police, who immediately arrived at the hospital and began an investigation.
Carmody said Myers had been shot in the abdomen.
Myers was treated at the hospital and was last listed in stable condition.
As officers began their investigation, information led them to 1615 Third Ave. S. Carmody did not state if officers discovered anything at the house relating to the crime.
He said the investigation is still at an "early point." Officers are processing evidence, interviewing witnesses and looking for additional information, he said.
