Fort Dodge firefighter Chuck DeBaun uses a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots on the roof of Dairy Queen Tuesday morning. The Fort Dodge Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in the furnace vents around 8:45 a.m. at the Dairy Queen located in the Tom Thumb building. Firefighter Steve Teske said there was a report of smoke and a burnt smell. The firefighters examined the rooftop furnace unit from the roof, and looked above the ceiling from the inside, but were unable to find anything. There was no damage and nothing seemed burned or melted, Teske said. After firefighters deemed the building safe, a worker from Midstate Plumbing and Heating arrived to take a closer look at the furnace.
